Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser still requires children to wear masks in school, despite lifting most of the city’s indoor mask requirements, the mayor announced Monday.
Starting March 1, masks won’t be required for indoor establishments like restaurants, bars and gyms. The Democrat mayor clarified that masks would still be required in a number of settings, including schools, congregate facilities, hospitals, and schools. This will force children to continue this restrictive practice.
This news comes as many blue states announce plans for lifting mask requirements — both in schools and at the state level. Massachusetts Governor. Charlie Baker (R), announced last week that Massachusetts’ statewide mask requirements for schools would not be extended beyond February 28. The state-sanctioned mask mandate for schools in Connecticut is also expected to end on that date.
Some leftists insist that children should be kept masked in school, while left-wing elites will forgo masks when it is convenient. Georgia’s Democrat gubernatorial hopeful Stacey Abrams was the talk of Georgia after she smiled unmaskless and was accompanied by several children who were muddled during a school visit to Glenwood Elementary School in Decatur.
Eric Adams, New York City Mayor, was also seen this month doing business in a maskless manner as he defends forcing New York City schoolchildren into masking:
