Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), recommended $100 million to Florida’s legislature for research into cancer. He made this announcement after identifying it as the leading cause of death in the Sunshine State.
He announced that he had recommended $100 million to the Legislature for cancer research in order to fight this horrible disease.
DeSantis’s wife Casey DeSantis has been battling breast cancer for several months and has first-hand experience with this terrible disease. In October 2021, the governor declared his wife’s diagnosis and revealed last month that she had completed her chemotherapy treatments.
It’s not always the most enjoyable thing to watch someone go through, but she has fought hard. He said that he believes she has responded well to the situation.
“She still has a lot of work to do, but this is a significant milestone as it marks the end of a long and difficult process. “I just wanted to let everybody know that she got through it,” said the governor.
He said, “She completed the gauntlet. She’s doing well. We look forward to continuing to have positive news in the coming weeks and months. So thanks, everybody, and God Bless.”
His potential Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Nikki Fried (D), claimed that he was mysteriously absent while coronavirus cases rose across the state. In reality, he was at his wife’s treatment for cancer.
“I suppose I should have been at Delaware’s beach. DeSantis replied, referring to President Joe Biden’s vacation at the beach.
DeSantis expressed optimism last month that “2022 would be the year when we can say Casey is cancer-free.
