It was reported that the White House won’t require COVID-19-vaccinated people to wear face masks at its premises starting Tuesday, March 1.
Just hours before President Biden’s first State of the Union speech before Congress, the requirement will be lifted.
The White House’s decision is similar to one made by Congress’ Office of the Attending Doctor. They stated that masks would be allowed on the House floor for the President’s speech. This will likely avoid the visuals of masked lawmakers present at the event, which takes place two years after the outbreak of coronavirus.
The issue of mask mandates has been a hot topic in the country. Many Democrat-led States still require them in public settings, including schools, while a few Republican-led States have made it optional.
New York City announced Sunday that it will lift the mask mandate for schoolchildren as of March 7, unless there’s a spike in cases.
