High school students in Texas were recently presented with a research paper while they were studying college-level English. They had to tackle one of three controversial topics within American culture: race or gender or ethnicity.
This class offers both high school credit and college credit. It is held at Southwest High School in Forth Worth Independent School District (FWISD). It is administered by the University of Austin, Texas.

Students were provided with recommended reading lists to help research controversial topics (gender, race or ethnicity).
Ibram X. Kendi, a Boston University professor of humanities, was one title.
Fox News was told by Fox News that students can read the titles but are not required to.
Critic race theory (or “CRT”) studies how power structures and institutions impact racial minorities.
This class is a dual-credit high school and college course that can be bypassed by the state law.
Fox News reached FWISD to request comment, but they didn’t respond.
Recent years have seen school textbooks and other reading materials come under increased scrutiny due to their subject matter. Florida’s Department of Education (DOE) recently rejected 40% of mathematics textbooks submitted for public schools. This was due to critical race theory, and other issues.
