Critics Call For Biden To Immediately End Iran Nuclear Talks Following Attempted Murder

Social media users, including many members of Congress, voiced criticism about the Biden administration’s pursuit for a nuclear agreement with Iran after the attempted murder of author Salman Rushdie. This was in spite of Iran’s support of a fatwa against Rushdie.

Hadi Matar, 24, allegedly attacked Rushdie multiple times before Rushdie’s Chautauqua speech on Friday. The attack left him severely handicapped and likely to lose one eye.

The attack comes 30 years after Iran’s former leader AyatollahRuhollah Khomeini demanded his death as a response to Rushdie’s book “The Satanic Verses”. Rushdie needed security around the clock at different points in his life.

Rubio was joined by several others in calling out the Biden government for its cooperation with the Iranian government in a nuclear agreement.

Fox News Digital was informed by a spokesperson from the White House that President Biden made it clear that he would not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. Diplomacy is the best way to prevent that.

Iran’s government seems to have distanced itself from Khomeini over the years, but a semi-official Iranian religious foundation supported Rushdie’s bounty of $3 million.

Iran’s state media condemned Rushdie, claiming that he was an “apostate” and responsible for “blasphemous writings” following the stabbing.

Iranian media outlets also celebrated the attack, as the hospitalized author battled for his life on the ventilator.

According to reports, a top Iranian official stated that Tehran might be open to accepting a new proposal from the European Union in order to reach a nuke deal if it meets its demands.

Iran has repeatedly demanded assurances that the U.S. would not renege upon the agreement after Trump withdrew from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He also imposed severe sanctions on Iran.
