As concerns mount over the influx of migrants to the southern border, President Biden said Tuesday that it was not rational to send migrants from the U.S.–Mexico border back home to countries like Venezuela and Nicaragua.
Biden was asked by a reporter why the border is “more overloaded on your watch.”
Biden is facing mounting questions about illegal crossings and spike in border apprehensions. Conservative leaders began transporting migrants to various locations throughout the U.S. including Martha’s Vineyard, and even right in front of Kamala Harris’ D.C. home.
According to the Customs and Border Patrol, almost 2.15 million illegal immigrants were apprehended at border this year. This is a significant increase from the data collected in the past four years.
Although most border apprehensions involve individuals traveling alone, there has been an increase in the number of families and unaccompanied minors.
Over the past year and a half, a record number of Colombians and Cubans, Haitians and Nicaraguans, Venezuelans and other nationalities were processed at the U.S. frontier. This was due to a variety reasons related to humanitarian and socio-economic crises abroad.
Democrats have accused Republicans such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Governor. Greg Abbott, who bussed migrants to Washington, D.C. for months, in “political theatre.”
Republicans accuse Democratic leaders, such as Harris, who was accused of being border czar last summer, of not addressing what they consider a border crisis.
Biden was asked by a reporter what he thought about migrants being bussed back to Delaware. He replied, “He should visit.” We have a beautiful coastline.”
