Donald Trump Reacts After Supreme Court Orders Release Of Tax Returns To House Democrats

The U.S. Supreme Court ordered Donald Trump’s tax returns be handed over to House Democrats. Trump is not happy about this decision, despite a lengthy legal battle.

Trump stated on Truth Social that Trump’s decision was unprecedented and also said it “creates [a] terrible precedent for future Presidents.” ”

“Why should anyone be shocked that my case was thrown out of court by the Supreme Court?” They always do. Trump wrote two posts: “It’s not common to hand over tax returns. It sets a terrible precedent for future Presidents. ”

Trump later called “ridiculous” the ruling by the highest court in a post.

House Democrats have been searching for Trump’s tax records since years to look into possible tax fraud or other wrongdoings.

Representative Richard Neal (D.Mass.) led the House Ways and Means Committee. This committee is Democrat-controlled. The Committee requested six years’ worth of Trump tax returns in 2019, which was quickly denied by the Trump administration, as he was then president.

Despite the fact that the Trump administration’s Treasury Department rejected the records, President Biden won control of the White House and the Justice Department reversed previous administrations decision.

Biden’s DOJ stated in a statement that Congress should be able to review Trump’s tax returns for 2021.

Trump and his legal team immediately sued Treasury Department to stop the release of records. They requested an intervention from the Supreme Court, which set off the legal battle.

Lower courts had supported the House Committee, but Chief Justice John Roberts issued an October stay. This stopped the Treasury Department from handing over the records to the Supreme Court until they could make a decision on their legality.

Trump denied his request on Tuesday and reversed his previous blockage

“The Supreme Court ruled that the request for a stay of mandate, which was made to The Chief Justice and referred to him to the Court by him, was denied. “The previous order entered by The Chief justice has been cancelled. ”

The process of releasing records began after Republicans won a majority of the House of Representatives seats and were granted the power to choose majorities for each committee.

It’s unclear if Republicans will continue investigating tax records after taking control of the House in January 2023.

Republicans demanded an investigation into Biden and his sons’ business dealings after they assumed control of the chamber.
