Is This How the Human Race Will Become Extinct?

Humans are the most successful species on the planet. In spite of all the odds, we find ways to make the world more friendly.

The greatest threats to our existence are those that can be attributed solely to mankind. Other possibilities include stray space rocks, comets, or a nearby Gamma radiation blast, which could turn us into tiny creatures.

A crisis is coming that will bring down all of them.

This meta-analysis consisted of 223 studies that used sperm from over 57,000 men from 53 countries.

This is the first study that shows that sperm concentrations and total sperm count have declined in Latin America, Asia, and Africa.

The authors warn couples that the threshold for sperm counts is dangerously close.

This problem has become more pressing due to the dramatic decline in sperm count in the 21st Century. Data from 2000 to 2018 showed an average decrease of more than 2.6 percent per year.

A fall in fertility doesn’t necessarily mean a drop in sperm count. There are correlations between declining sperm counts and increased chances of conception.

Researchers believe that sperm count is a strong indicator of fertility.

They said that a higher number of sperm than 40-50 million/ml doesn’t necessarily indicate a greater chance of conception.

Below this threshold, conception rates drop rapidly and sperm counts drop.

According to the study’s authors, the drop in the mean number of sperm (from 104 million to 49 million/ml) indicates a significant rise in the number of men who have delayed conceiving.

How do we know this?

Don’t panic. Science can increase sperm count. IVF and artificial methods are available to conceive.

We are still alive. However, it is reasonable to suppose that the world will not exist without humans.
