Crooks Learn That Targeting Jewelry Shop Next To Marine Recruiting Office Was A Really Bad Idea

A group of criminals discovered the hard way that targeting jewelry shops near U.S. Marine recruitment offices for a smash-and-grab attempt was very foolish.

The incident took place at Torrance’s Del Amo Fashion Center on Dec. 20, 2012.

Police say that the four suspects, who were wearing hoodies and covering up their faces, used hammers at a jewelry shop to smash glass cases and then fled with a lot of merchandise.

Marine recruiters from the nearby military recruiting office leaped into action.

With the help of others, they were able to take out two suspects and hold them down until the police arrived. The robbery was also carried out by two other suspects.

Ralph, a man who only wanted to be identified as Ralph, was able to record a portion of the incident using his cell phone. He claimed that he was last-minute Christmas shopping with his wife at the time of the robbery.

“It was the Marine Corps… They stepped in, they tackled them,” Ralph told KTTV –TV.

He said, “Two people got away, but two were taken down and they took it up.” “That’s enough. It’s time to fight back.”

According to police, the two minor suspects who were detained by Marines were able to retrieve a large amount of jewelry from the scene.

Although the owner of the jewelry shop refused to identify himself, he stated that it was a family-owned business.

Ralph said, “It’s becoming wild in the streets now.” It’s time to stand up and fight back. Many stores have closed down because of these types of “smash and grab”.

Here’s a video from the local news about this incident.
