Elon Musk Claims He Will Step Down As Twitter CEO Once He Finds A Successor

Twitter CEO Elon Musk stated that he would resign if he meets someone “foolish” enough to accept the job.
Elon Musk stated that he would like to leave the CEO role after polling his 122million followers about whether he should resign as leader of his newly purchased social media site Twitter. The poll was conducted two days ago.

Musk, however, did not speak out after the poll’s results. He then tweeted to clarify the matter and replied to those who had doubted the results. He suggested that Twitter might change its polling system so that only people who have paid for the Twitter Blue service can vote.

Musk posted late Tuesday that he would be stepping down after finding a successor, and would “just lead the software and servers teams” in the future.

Many were surprised at this decision. Musk, however, has stated for some time that he does not intend to be the CEO of Twitter forever.

Musk testified in Delaware to defend against claims that Tesla’s $56 billion compensation package was based upon easy-to-achieve targets. A compliant board approved the payment. Musk also stated that he plans on reducing his time at Twitter and eventually finding a new leader.

While some were upset by Musk’s decision to resign, Musk has indicated from the very beginning of his Twitter career that he won’t be the company’s permanent CEO. Given the calls of many high-profile investors to Tesla for him to either return to the electric vehicle company or appoint another CEO, this move could be sooner than expected.
