Hunter Biden hired Abbe Lowell, former President Bill Clinton’s impeachment lawyer, this week to fight the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the Biden family businesses.
Abbe Lowell is one of the top lawyers in the establishment. He works with clients who are embroiled in political scandals. Many high-profile clients have been represented by him, including Senator Robert Menendez (D–NJ), former Sen. John Edwards and lobbyist Jack Abramoff as well as Bill Clinton and Jared Kushner. Lowell, a Brox native, is a 1977 Columbia Law School grad. He ran for the Maryland House of Delegates in 1982 on the Democrat ticket.
Hunter’s legal defense will now be led by Kevin Morris and Chris Clark. Lowell will join Hunter with Joshua A. Levy. Hunter will be protected by Lowell in the congressional probe. Clark and Levy have focused their efforts on preventing Hunter being charged by DOJ with tax and gun violations.
John Edwards, former U.S. senator and presidential candidate, speaks with the media along with Abbe Lowell as he leaves Greensboro’s federal court.
Morris said that Hunter Biden had retained Abbe Lowell as a legal advisor and to be part of his legal team in order to deal with the issues he faces. “Lowell, a well-respected Washington attorney who has represented many high-profile people and public officials in DOJ trials and investigations as well as Congressional Investigations, is a well-known Washington based lawyer. Mr. Lowell will be handling congressional investigations and general strategic advisory.
Biden family critics are asking Hunter how Hunter is able to afford such an expensive legal defense team. “Abbe Lowell isn’t cheap. I wonder how Hunter pays for this after spending all his money on pros and drugs. It must be the art gig,” Chuck Ross (an investigative reporter at Washington Free Beacon) tweeted.
Representative James Comer (R.KY) will lead the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the Biden family for nine violations. These include wire fraud, violations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and tax evasion.
Comer declared in November that “I want it to be clear, this investigation is Joe Biden.” “The business dealings of the Biden family implicate a broad range of criminality, from human trafficking to possible violations of the constitution.”
Currently, the Biden family defense team is divided on how to stop investigations into the family’s business. Breitbart News reported:
Hunter Biden has retained Kevin Morris, a Hollywood lawyer, to “craft legal strategy.” He believes that the Biden family should be more aggressive in their opposition to the GOP investigations. This would include suing some Republicans and conservative media networks for defamation regarding information found on the “Laptop from Hell.” However, others in the Biden orbit think the family should adopt a less aggressive approach by keeping out of the public eye and allowing congressional Democrats and the White House to fight the investigations through public relations.
Morris has formed a research team to collect opposition research against Hunter’s former business partner Tony Bobulinski, and laptop repairman John Paul Mac Isaac. Both of these individuals are likely to cooperate in the GOP’s investigations into the Biden family businesses. According to Matt Viser and Michael Scherer of the Washington Post, Chris Clark is a lawyer who is handling the Justice Department investigation into Hunter’s tax and gun violations. Joshua A. Levy is the head of the defense for the Biden family against the GOP’s congressional inquiry that seeks out to uncover that Joe Biden’s business schemes are compromised.
According to reports, there is disagreement between Morris and White House over how the Biden family should respond to the investigation into their family business. Morris gave Hunter $2 million to the IRS to help with delinquent taxes. He wants Hunter to continue to be visible by attending public events such as the White House state dinner and the exhibition of public art. The Post reported that those who support Morris’s strategy want Hunter to take part in Joe Biden’s possible reelection campaign.
Secret Empires and Profiles in Corruption was published by Peter Schweizer, a senior contributor to Breitbart and President of the Government Accountability Institute. The books reached #1 on the New York Times Bestsellers List. They revealed how Joe Biden and Hunter Biden traveled aboard Air Force Two to China in 2013, before Hunter’s company signed a $1.5billion deal with a subsidiary of China’s Bank of China within two weeks. Schweizer’s research also revealed other lucrative foreign deals and cronyism in the Biden family.
Emma-Jo Morris, Breitbart’s Political Editor, was also a major figure in international news when she and Miranda Devine revealed that Joe Biden was involved in Hunter’s business ventures. He even had a 10% stake in a company formed by him with officials from the Chinese Communist Party.
