Alec Baldwin, a Hollywood star, has been indicted for involuntary murder in connection to the shooting incident on Rust’s set.
The Santa Fe District Attorney announced Thursday that Alec Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez–Reed, the movie’s armer, will face criminal charges in connection with the October 21st 2021 shooting of Rust cinematographer Halyna HUTCHINS.
Each will be charged with two counts each of involuntary murder in Hutchins’ death. If they are found guilty, it is not clear what sentence they will receive.
According to New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack–Altwies, “After a thorough analysis of the evidence and New Mexico’s laws, I have concluded that there is sufficient evidence for me to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin” “On my watch no one is above law and everyone deserves justice.”
“The evidence clearly shows that there was a pattern criminal disregard for safety at the Rust film set.” New Mexico has no space for film sets that do not take the state’s commitments to gun safety and public safety very seriously,” Andrea Reeb (special prosecutor) said.
