Biden Lawyers Find Additional Classified Documents at Wilmington Residence

Lawyers for President Biden discovered more classified documents during his time as vice president at Biden’s Wilmington, Del. residence. The White House confirmed this Thursday.

Richard Sauber, the special counsel to President Obama, stated in a statement that Biden’s attorneys searched the Delaware homes of the president in Wilmington and Rehoboth after 10 classified documents were discovered at Biden’s old Washington, D.C. office. On Wednesday night, the search resulted in a “small amount of additional Obama-Biden Administration documents with classified markings.”

Sauber stated that “all but one of these documents” were found in storage in the President’s Wilmington residence garage. “Amongst the stored materials in an adjoining room, one document consisting only of one page was found. The Rehoboth Beach residence did not contain any documents.

Sauber stated that lawyers immediately informed the Justice Department about the discovery and made arrangements for the documents to be turned over to them.

Sauber stated that the White House would continue to cooperate with the Department of Justice’s review.

Biden spoke to reporters shortly after the statement was published. He said that his lawyers had found a few documents in his home with classified markings. This indicated at least one of those documents was in his personal library. Biden also stated that the documents were discovered in a garage with a locked door, which also contained his Corvette.

Biden stated to reporters that he had said “As I stated earlier this week people know I take classified papers and classified materials seriously.” “I also stated that we are fully cooperating with the Justice Department’s review.”

“We’re going see all of it unfold. Biden stopped as reporters shouted additional questions.

Three days after the White House admitted lawyers found approximately a dozen sensitive documents in a Washington office Biden used as an honorary professor at the University of Pennsylvania, the White House disclosed additional classified documents from Biden’s residence.

Biden’s team discovered the documents six days before the midterm election. However, the news media only reported the discovery this week. According to reports, the classified documents contained materials about Iran, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. They were also mixed with personal items, such as information about Beau Biden’s funeral.

He stated that he was shocked to discover that lawyers had found the documents and that he didn’t know what they contained. He stressed that he is serious about handling classified documents.

However, the disclosure that additional documents were discovered at a different location will fuel Republican criticism. They have suggested in recent days that there was a double standard to counter the intense scrutiny Trump faces over his handling of classified documents.

In August, the FBI searched Trump’s Florida home and found hundreds of sensitive documents, some of which were marked “top secret”.

Trump repeatedly blocked attempts by the National Archives for the documents to be recovered. He took the documents with him when he left the White House in January 2021. Presidents and vice presidents are required to keep records and to turn them over for preservation under the Presidential Records Act.

Biden’s team has stressed their cooperation with the National Archives and Justice Department after the discovery of the classified papers. His allies noted that the FBI recovered more classified documents from Mar-a-Lago than what was found in Biden’s office.

Attorney General Merrick Garland had appointed a special counsel to oversee investigations into Trump’s handling of classified material.

Garland will make an announcement soon.
