Biden Says No Regrets Over Classified Document Discovery Handling

Thursday’s statement by President Biden indicated that he has no regrets about how he handled classified documents discovered at his Washington, D.C., home, and former Washington, D.C., office.

The remarks were made while the president was touring California to assess damage caused by recent winter storms.

A reporter asked a question about classified documents at the end of his speech.

“You know what really bugs me? That we have a serious problem. Biden stated that we are talking about the damage. “And the American people don’t’ understand why you don’t ask me questions regarding that.”

The president allowed the question to continue. Biden was asked by the reporter if he regretted not disclosing the existence of the documents when they were discovered less than one week before the November midterms.

Biden stated that he found some documents had been filed in the wrong places. “We immediately turned the documents over to the Archives & the Justice Department. We are fully cooperating with the Justice Department and look forward to a quick resolution.

He said, “I think that you’re going find there’s no there.” I don’t regret anything. I am doing what the lawyers tell me. That’s exactly what they’re doing. It’s impossible to be there.

According to the White House, Biden lawyers discovered classified documents and records on four occasions. They were found on Nov. 2, at the Washington offices of the Penn Biden Centre, Dec. 20, in the garage of President Donald Trump’s Wilmington, Delaware home, and Nov. 11, 12 and 12, respectively, in the president’s home library.

Biden had previously criticized his predecessor for having such sensitive records.

“When you first saw the photo of top secret documents being laid out on the Mar-a-Lago floor, what was your reaction to that image?” CBS’ Scott Pelley asked.

Biden replied, “How could that possibly happen? How one could be so irresponsible?” “And I wondered what data might be in there that could compromise sources or methods. This includes names of people who helped, et cetera.

Biden said, “And it is just totally irresponsible.”

Robert Hur, an ex-Maryland U.S. Attorney, was appointed last week by Attorney General Merrick Galrland to be the special counsel for the Justice Department’s investigation into the documents.
