MTG Tried To Place Rep. Rosendale on Phone With Trump After He Voted Against McCarthy

Majorie TaylorGreene (Republican from Georgia) reportedly attempted to place Rep. Matt Rosendale, (Republican-MT), on a live call with former President Donald J. Trump on Friday night after Rosendale voted against Rep. Kevin McCarthy(R-CA) as speaker of the House on the 14th ballot.

McCarthy’s defeat on the 14th ballot was only half a vote. This added tension to the 118th House of Representatives, which had been voting for a speaker from Tuesday. Al Drago, a D.C.-based photographer, tweeted an image showing what was described as a heated exchange between the two representatives after Rosendale’s vote to elect Rep. Andy Biggs.

Greene, who has repeatedly voted in McCarthy’s favor, is seen extending her iPhone during a live call with a contact called “DT.” Drago noted that Rosendale was one of 21 McCarthy detractors and “waves it off.”

Heather Caygle, Punchbowl News’ managing editor, posted that Punchbowl News members had told her about the “heated exchange”

She wrote that MTG was telling Rosendale that she had Trump on her phone, and that he needed to speak to the former president immediately. “Rosendale repeatedly shouted, “Don’t you ever make me like that!”

Georgia’s representative used Twitter to call it “the perfect phone conversation.”

Caygle claims that Greene’s and Rosendale’s exchange occurred during another moment. After Rep. Matt Gaetz had voted present in 14th round, Rep. Mike Rogers (R.AL) was confronting Gaetz. Then Rep. Richard Hudson (R.NC) suddenly pulled Rogers back and grabbed him by the face. This happened seconds after McCarthy and Gaetz had spoken.

The fever pitched settled down, and McCarthy won the post with the 15th ballot. Breitbart News reported that several Republican representatives stressed the importance of Trump’s involvement in bringing about a resolution for this speaker’s race.
