CNN Hot Mic Catches Audible Groan During Kevin McCarthy Remarks

A hot microphone from CNN captured someone grinning as Kevin McCarthy (House Speaker hopeful) made remarks.
McCarthy, who has been through more than a dozen failed vote during the week in his race to be speaker, may still win. McCarthy could be closer to the speakership as 15 Republican holdouts changed votes Friday.

Anderson Cooper consulted McCarthy to get his latest comments on CNN’s coverage of the Capitol Hill drama.

“We’ll return tonight. McCarthy said that he believes that at that point, we’ll have enough voters to complete the project. This reminds me of what my father used tell me: It’s not how you start but how you finish. ”

A female voice on-air says, “Oh, for Christ’s sake.” ”

Rumours swirl that Finney was a CNN contributor, Democratic strategist and made the comment during a panel discussion just before McCarthy’s comments.

Other online blogs, including Raw Story, claimed that it was CNN’s chief Political correspondent Dana Bash.

It is unclear if the groan was in response to McCarthy’s comments. Fox News Digital reached for comment from CNN.

McCarthy is currently fighting a hard battle to be a speaker. McCarthy has been faced with animosity from his party, which has hindered him from reaching a majority.

At their weakest, 21 Republicans voted either for another candidate or with him. Friday, however, saw a quick turnaround with six of the six remaining holdouts falling to six.

Six Republicans still vote against McCarthy: Reps. elect Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Lauren Boebert. Colo. and Eli Crane, Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Bob Good, Va., and Matt Rosendale.

McCarthy assured reporters he was confident about sealing the deal at Friday’s 14th vote.

It is unclear whether he will be able to flip any of the six Republicans. It is possible that McCarthy’s threshold total could be affected by the number of registered voters, rather than the 218 benchmark.
