During a traffic stop, a human smuggler shot and killed an El Paso Sector Border Patrol Agent on Thursday afternoon. Multiple handgun shots were fired at the agent’s chest, but he managed to fire back and strike the suspect.
According to a statement from El Paso Sector Border Patrol officers, the alleged human smuggler fired on a Lordsburg Station agent during a traffic stop for a suspected human smuggling car on New Mexico Highway 146. Multiple times, the gunman’s.40 caliber bullets struck the migrant in the chest. He was able to avoid serious injury thanks to his body armor.
As the vehicle fled, the agent fired back at it. According to confidential sources, at least one shot was fired at the suspect’s arm as it fled.
The driver fled and eventually lost control of his vehicle, which rolled onto the side of the highway. Six people were taken into custody by agents, including the injured U.S citizen alleged gunman.
Officials stated that two people were in the vehicle which was overturned and they had to be flown 140 miles to El Paso, Texas.
After being shot multiple times in the chest, the wounded agent was taken to hospital. His body armor protected him against serious injury. According to reports, he is in good health on Friday.
Officials from the Border Patrol previously stated to Breitbart Texas that they have been experiencing an increase in the number of armed human traffickers.
This shooting incident occurred days before President Joe Biden’s first visit to El Paso Border Patrol Sector.
