Two vehicles struck a woman and she died on the Denver highway. She was dropped off by a rideshare driver after she fell ill in his car.
It happened just after midnight on New Year’s Day in Colorado, near the 470 interchanges.
Investigators believe that the woman was sickened in the rideshare car and her friends canceled the ride fare. They were then dropped off by the driver on the side of the busy Interstate Highway.
The truck struck the woman as she walked onto the highway. She fell to the ground and was hit by another vehicle. The truck driver did not stop but the driver of his car did.
Thornton Police took Adam Wooley, 33, of Frederick into custody. He had surrendered as the driver of the dark pickup truck. He was charged with one count for a hit-and-run involving the death.
KUSA-TV was told by a witness that she was behind the truck that struck the woman.
Roxy, a woman who was only identified as Roxy, said that she couldn’t believe what she saw. “The truck in front swerved but when he swerved slightly, it still hit her and she kinda, she flew up.”
Although the driver of the rideshare wasn’t charged criminally, Jonathan Douglas, an attorney for KCNC-TV, stated that the driver could face civil charges for his actions.
“It seems that the woman was left on the side road.” This is quite shocking.
Thornton police stated that the rideshare driver was cooperative in the investigation into the death of the woman.
Roxy stated, “The entire situation is just terrible.”
