Three weeks after the train accident that left a small Ohio town devastated, Erin Brockovich, an environmental activist, arrived in East Palestine to help the victims. “They can get justice, understand their legal rights and so we can hold railroads accountable.”
Brockovich tweeted her announcement of her arrival in East Palestine. She also announced that she would hold a meeting at 6 pm on Friday, February 24th to help the victims of the disaster. After a Norfolk South train carrying toxic chemical cargo derailed, the ecological disaster has caused devastating damage to the small Ohio community of 5,000 people.
Brockovich is an environmental activist best known for her film, “Erin Brockovich”, which depicts her involvement in a lawsuit against PG&E.
After U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and former President Donald Trump made stops in East Palestine earlier this week to address the train crash, Brockovich’s visit is a welcome surprise. Brockovich clarified that her visit was not political and tweeted, “I don’t care who your voted for. When crisis hits, all Americans are Americans, all human beings.”
Brockovich spent time speaking with East Palestine residents instead of focusing solely on President Biden’s departure from the disaster scene.
Brockovich posted images from East Palestine of Brockovich talking to “wonderful” people and sharing her experiences.

Brockovich tweeted Thursday, “He said he is worried about what will happen months from now to his dogs if they go out and eat grass.”
Brockovich posted today’s image of visible oil in East Palestine waters with the caption: “Taken today!” “All Clear” My A –!”
This tweet was sent after Mike DeWine, Republican Ohio Governor, visited East Palestine homes on Tuesday and drank tap water at each one to assure residents that the water supply was safe.
Brockovich tweeted last week about the Ohio train derailment, asking for the Biden Administration’s “STEP UP”
“The Biden administration must get more involved now in the #PalestineOhio train derailment.” Brockovich shared the following Monday, February 13.
She also criticised Republican Senator J.D. Vance responded to the situation by saying, “Hold them all responsible.” All of them responsible.
The Ohio Senator caused a stir on Twitter last week when he posted a Twitter video of himself scraping the bottom a local creek bed using a stick. It appeared that chemicals were coming out of the ground.
Vance, standing next to Leslie Run Creek in East Palestine (Ohio), said that there were dead worms and fish in this water.

Although the National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary report did not pinpoint the exact cause of the East Palestine derailment in Ohio, it highlighted several operational concerns.
The report stated that surveillance video taken at a local house showed what appeared to have been a wheel bearing in the last stage of heat failure, just moments before the derailment. The NTSB will examine the evidence of the wheel bearing and affected wheelset.
