Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), announced what has been called the “largest tax relief proposition” in Florida’s history. It includes permanent sales tax relief for toddler necessities and gas stoves.
DeSantis spoke briefly in Marion County and highlighted the economic state of Florida. He noted that Florida has the lowest per-capita tax burden in the country, as well as no income tax, while promising to “keep things that way”.
DeSantis stated that the choice of gas stove should be left to each individual, and that elites want to regulate how much energy you consume. Some speculate that this is their “ultimate vision.”
Permanent sales tax exemption will also apply to over-the-counter medications for pets.
DeSantis also stated that his proposal would allow for one-year tax breaks for “key items”, including books and toys for children, as well as youth equipment.
DeSantis also stated that the state would extend the Freedom Summer tax holiday last year.
According to the governor, this amount would be approximately $2 billion in tax relief.
