It’s nice to start the week with some zest. How better to do this than by writing a column with heartfelt and valid criticisms about Trump?
My hate mail should at least buzz for a few days.
I will do this every time I write one of these things in the coming months. I will remind everyone to support Trump and to criticize him when necessary.
Reflection is a good thing in politics. Democrats will feel guilty about living in the world that they made, but it is too late.
Last month I commented to a friend, colleague, and strong Trump supporter that I felt like he was sending me messages sometimes. The column stated that he was very close to having a “Please Clap!” moment of his own.
After Trump started shaming the Florida governor, this feeling began.
Trump decided to attack DeSantis again, this time by comparing COVID data. Trump doesn’t want to “go there” with DeSantis when it comes to coronavirus response. It’s a terrible comparison that my colleague wrote about in November.
I’ve been writing for years that Trump isn’t just renting out the heads of his hateful haters but also is building condos there. Rob Reiner is one of his detractors. Trump can trigger them without ever doing anything. Trump appears a bit unhinged because of this.
Trump vs. Imaginary DeSantis’s argument suggests that Trump holds a lot of top real estate in his head.
Many people believe these preemptive strikes against DeSantis will be the best way forward. Trump supporters are most passionate because Trump used every bathroom.
Once again, I’m someone who voted for Trump and will enthusiastically do so again if he’s the nominee, so maybe pump the brakes on all of the “TRAITOR!” caterwauling from the fainting couches.
Trump’s time would be better spent beating up on the Democrats until the GOP primary season begins in earnest. No reason to risk spraining an ankle while shadowboxing with a phantom.
