The Baltimore mayor was charged with 56 child pornography-related offenses on Thursday. He has been to the White House many times since President Biden assumed office. He previously referred to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, as his mentor.

Patrick Wojahn, the Mayor of College Park, Maryland, resigned Wednesday night before being taken into custody by Prince George’s County Police on Thursday for 40 counts of child pornography possession and 16 counts of distribution.

Wojahn was a Democrat and stated in his resignation letter that he would cooperate with law enforcement and didn’t want to be a distraction.

He stated, “While this investigation doesn’t involve any city business of any type, it is in my best interests that I step aside.”

These visits will not be published on the White House site until March 30 or April 30. He posted photos of the White House interior on December 11, including Christmas decorations, with a caption reading, “Happy holidays!” I enjoyed the chance to see the beautiful ‘We the People” holiday decorations tonight and to celebrate the season! He was also tagged on Instagram in another post, revealing that he was there when Biden signed Respect for Marriage Act on Dec. 13.

January 2023 was the date of the United States Conference of Mayors’ visit. White House officials praised “historic investments in cities” during this visit. Wojahn’s tweet shows several top Biden administration officials, such as Gene Sperling, Biden’s senior advisor.

He has posted photos on social media of several Democratic lawmakers, including the former Speaker of the House. Nancy Pelosi, California, and Rep. Jamie Raskin, Maryland, former DNC Chair Tom Perez and Butigieg.

Wojahn, in a September 2020 Instagram posting, thanked Biden and showed a photo of a Zoom conference that Biden was leading along with the United States Conference of Mayors. He tweeted his praises for Biden’s American Rescue Plan in Jan. 2022 and said, “It has already been making a difference to the lives of many people by enabling me to provide relief to residents who are in need and support local business owners.”

He added, “And it will assist us in making critical infrastructure investments.” Without Biden’s leadership, this would not have been possible.

Wojahn is also an mentee political of Buttigieg. Wojahn mentioned their friendship in a Washington Blade interview.

“I met Mayor Pete Buttigieg right after I was elected mayor of 2015. Wojahn stated that he met Mayor Pete Buttigieg at the U.S. Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting in D.C. in January 2015.

They met up and chatted regularly on the phone. Buttigieg also gave Wojahn tips about what to expect at the mayoral conference.

They would again meet at an Obama White House reception following the conference, where Wojahn’s husband Dave Kolesar would meet Chasten. Buttigieg would mentor Wojahn throughout the conference.

Wojahn stated that he mentored him and now I serve as the vice chair for city livability, bicycling and leadership.

According to the Federal Election Commission website Wojahn also donated thousands to Democratic candidates and committees. This includes $200 to Biden’s 2020 campaign and $500 to Raskin’s House campaign in 2016. $250 to Buttigieg’s Win the EraPAC and more than $1,000 to the Obama campaign and Hillary Clinton campaign.
