China’s Influence and Impact on Shaping the Global South

Why did Saudi Arabian officials and Iranian officials travel to Beijing to restore diplomatic relations?

Why was Brazil’s president Lula in Shanghai this week, after he declared that Brazil and Russia, India, and China should launch international money to replace US dollars?

After meeting with Xi Jinping in Beijing, French President Emmanuel Macron said: “For him… It’s important that the European nations do not become ‘vassals.

Why is a group of Southeast Asian leaders heading to Beijing (Indonesia recently, Vietnam in recent months)?

China’s economic might will be the answer. China’s exports to developing Asia (Southeast Asia, India, and other countries in South Asia) have doubled during the past three years. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations has seen a 25% increase in exports from January through March.

China is building high-speed railroads, ports, and–most importantly–broadband infrastructure from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Tonkin. We see 5G as consumer technology. Chinese view it as an industrial technique.

India and China continue to fight over their border. India and China continue to fight over the border.

In my book, You Will Be Assimilated: China’s Plan to Sino-Form the World (2020), I warned against China’s plan of extending its digital and physical infrastructure into the Global South. It is a frightening trend that China is engulfing another billion people with its economic influence.

China exported 9% of its GDP in 2007 but now only 3%.

China is constructing a digital economy in Saudi Arabia. Huawei’s AI-guided solar cells are used in the NEOM Megacity.

If we continue to fool ourselves, we risk sending up a weaker power than Britain and the United States of America in the 20th Century. For how much longer can we watch as large portions of the world align themselves with China while leaving America’s sphere behind?

Huawei, the largest provider of telecom equipment in the world, spends over $25 billion annually on R&D. Its main competitors Nokia and Ericsson each spend less than $10 billion.

China’s economy expands because of its infrastructure and highly-skilled engineers (it graduates five times as many people each year as we do). China can create dominant supply chains because of these factors.

We have missed the mark. we have missed the boat.

We should have developed national champions in order to compete with Huawei.

To form an industry in the West, we could create a partnership with Japanese, South Korean, and Scandinavian telecom companies.

The leaders of our country prefer to use cheap rhetoric, but the more they talk about China the less they do. They have banned the exports of high-end semiconductor production equipment and chips and destroyed Huawei’s smartphone market. It cannot obtain the super-dense chips needed to power a 5G handset. However, China’s infrastructure business relies on older, cheaper chips.

People will tell you that China is about collapse economically or that the Chinese people are rising against the Communist Party. The heroes in monster movies have seen too many films where they find the weakness of the monster and defeat it. This is not going to be the case.

We will not go near China’s coast. China is equipped with more than 2,000 land-based anti-ship missiles that can hit moving targets even far from its coasts. Hypersonic weapons are also available. There is no current defense against them.
