Secretary Xavier Becerra of the Department of Health and Human Services will supervise a plan by President Joe Biden that would open up Medicaid and Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare) to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants enrolled in Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA).
Biden announced this week a plan to expand Obamacare and Medicaid, which are both subsidised by American taxpayers to the 600,000 illegal immigrants currently enrolled in DACA – the program that was created by the former president Obama via executive order. This program has protected more than one million illegal aliens against deportation over the years.
Becerra will supervise the scheme. According to Breitbart News, Becerra has been reviewing opening taxpayer-funded options for illegal aliens’ health coverage. He will propose a federal regulation by the end this month, which if finalized would make DACA illegal immigrants eligible for Obamacare or Medicaid.
Becerra stated that “of the 580,000 DREAMers, who came to this country as kids and are currently protected by DACA, approximately 34 percent don’t have health insurance.”
The White House announced that “Under proposed rule, DACA beneficiaries will be able apply for coverage via the Health Insurance Marketplace where they may qualify to receive financial assistance based upon their income and through the state Medicaid agency.”
According to research, offering Obamacare coverage to illegal aliens could cost taxpayers $4,600 each. This estimate suggests that taxpayers would be charged $2.8 billion per year for subsidized health insurance to each DACA illegal alien.
According to estimates made by Chris Conover of Duke University’s Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research, American taxpayers already subsidise at least $18.5 Billion in medical costs for illegal immigrants living in the United States.
