But here we are. Rachel Griffin Accurso, the woman behind the Ms. Rachel brand that’s become a staple in American homes with young kids, just handed $3,000 to Abdul El Sayed’s Senate campaign.

You know what strikes me about this story? It’s not just the money. Three grand isn’t going to make or break a Senate race. What matters is the choice itself, the statement being made. El Sayed isn’t some moderate Democrat trying to win over swing voters in the suburbs. This is a man who’s earned the distinction of being called a “pro-Hamas candidate” by fellow Democrat John Fetterman. Think about that for a second. When you’ve gone so far left that Fetterman is pumping the brakes, you’ve entered territory most politicians wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole.

The Federal Election Commission filings from July tell the story in black and white. Ms. Rachel, whose entire brand depends on trust from parents, decided this was her guy. El Sayed has built his political identity on positions that would make most Americans uncomfortable. He’s pushed to defund police departments while our cities struggle with crime. He’s claimed that Medicare for all would somehow end white privilege in healthcare, as if complex medical disparities could be solved with a single government program. And he’s insisted that ICE exists to “terrorize people on our streets,” which is an interesting way to describe immigration enforcement.

But the real issue here runs deeper than policy disagreements. El Sayed has repeatedly attacked Israel and Jewish communities with rhetoric that crosses lines most politicians know better than to approach. It’s gotten so bad that Jewish Democrats in Detroit, people who’ve spent decades supporting Democratic candidates, have announced they’re raising money for Republican Mike Rogers instead. When you lose your own party’s traditional supporters over antisemitism, that’s not a minor stumble. That’s a complete failure of moral judgment.

Ms. Rachel hasn’t exactly covered herself in glory on this front either. Back in January, she used her social media platform to spread a message about freeing America from Jews. Let that sink in. A woman whose entire career depends on parents trusting her with their children’s early education thought it was appropriate to amplify antisemitic content.

This is where we are now. The lines between entertainment, education, and political extremism have blurred so completely that a kids’ YouTube star feels comfortable supporting candidates who traffic in hate. Parents across America have welcomed this woman into their homes, trusted her with their most precious responsibility, and she’s using that platform and the money it generates to support positions that contradict basic American values.

The free market will likely sort this out. Parents vote with their clicks and their wallets, and when they discover where their favorite entertainer stands, they’ll make choices accordingly. That’s how it should work. No government intervention needed, just informed consumers making decisions about who deserves their attention and support.

But the broader question remains troubling. How did we get to a place where supporting extremism became just another lifestyle choice, something to fund casually between filming videos about the alphabet?
