Rolling Fork in Mississippi continues to be affected by the massive tornado that decimated the small Mississippi Delta town. Many homes were destroyed when the EF-4 ripped through rural farming areas, leaving only rubble and death behind.
President Joe Biden did not waste time going over the damage, unlike past tragedies and disasters. This is a positive thing. However, the bad thing is that he didn’t know which town he was in.

It is so embarrassing to see. The President of the United States flew for over an hour to Jackson, MS on Air Force One, and then took a helicopter flight with Marine One to Rolling Fork. Were we to believe that he didn’t have enough time to read his notes and remember the name of the town? He didn’t need to print a sheet.
Is there any standard by which the president is held accountable? Are we so used to his stupidities that they no longer matter? The press certainly takes the latter approach.
Biden is only doing this to check the boxes. Biden has been in trouble politically before by not making or delaying these types of visits. They acted more decisively than his handlers, which is a sign they must have learned from their mistakes. It’s all fine and dandy, but it is important to show empathy for those on the ground who have lost everything.
It’s one thing for you to use it for a photo op. It’s quite another to be used as a photo-op with someone who doesn’t care about your details. Sharkey County in Mississippi is very liberal and Biden made that trip. After six victims were killed by a transgender man at a Christian school in Nashville, Biden has not yet visited Nashville. He doesn’t put much effort into his job.
It is not difficult. Before you travel, learn the name of the place you’re visiting. Have your handlers quiz you if you must. Don’t pretend to be someone you care about in a disaster zone if you don’t have the time or ability to do so.
