McDonald’s Fries Flavor Secret Shared On TikTok Shocks Customers

Another viral video has been shared by a TikTok creator who is known for his “fast food secrets”. This time, it’s about McDonald’s “World Famous Fries”.

Jordan Howlett is a San Diego-based self-employed director of social media. He uploaded a TikTok video in which he claimed that McDonald’s workers had asked him how he learned about fast food and if there were any “secrets.” Howlett appears to have been inspired by this question when he made his video on fries.

Howlett, who has millions of followers, said: “I know the secret to why McDonald’s french fries taste so different. I’m going to tell you today.”

Howlett explained, “It’s the beef flavoring that’s mixed into their vegetable oil when they cook their fries.” So, this is why McDonald’s fries are so delicious but so different than everyone else’s.

McDonald’s USA has long made it clear in its marketing materials that their fries are flavored with beef.

The chain confirmed in a FAQ page from March 2021 that flavors are added to their fries.

McDonald’s website says that “When our suppliers use a blend of oil that includes beef flavoring, they partially fry our potatoes,” This ensures that our World Famous Fries have the delicious and recognizable taste we love. Our fries are seasoned with sea salt and cooked in our own kitchens.

McDonald’s USA’s nutrition facts sheets list allergens and have disclosed for years that the “natural beef flavor”, which is used in the fry oil, is made from hydrolyzed flour and hydrolyzed dairy.

McDonald’s also uses potatoes, a vegetable oil made of canola oil, corn oil, and soybean oil, dextrose, a sugar substitute, and sodium acid-pyrophosphate, an inorganic salt, which is used to maintain the fries’ color.

Howlett informed his TikTok fans that McDonald’s Canada and McDonald’s U.K. do not cook their World Famous Fries using beef flavoring. This means there is a possibility for vegetarians who want to eat McDonald’s fries.

In his video, he stated that they cook the fries with regular oil. If you are vegetarian, then you can have the fries in those restaurants.

McDonald’s Canada and McDonald’s U.K. do not list beef flavor on their World Famous Fries Menu. However, the corporate offices caution that fries may be manufactured in facilities that also handle common food allergies, including eggs, soy and tree nuts.

McDonald’s headquarters warn customers that World Famous fries may be prepared using the same equipment or oil as other meat items. Customers with severe allergies or dietary restrictions should exercise caution before ordering.

Howlett’s TikTok clip about McDonald’s french fries has been watched more than 10,2 million times.

Over 1.5 million people have liked the video, and it has been shared over 103.800 times. It has also been saved over 86.900 times.

According to the comments left below Howlett’s YouTube video, it appears that many Howlett’s fans weren’t aware of the fact that McDonald’s USA uses a beef flavoring in their fries.

One TikTok user said, “This makes wonder what American McDonald’s french fries taste like.”

Another TikTok user said: “I need to compare the different types of food when I travel because I have only been eating Aussie foods.”

Another commenter said: “If this is the case, I feel bad for my Hindi friends who eat them.”

TikTok commenters claimed that Howlett’s secret fast food recipe is well-known and shared by McDonald’s employees, vegetarians on strict no meat diets, and vegans who avoid any products containing animal byproducts.

Howlett currently has 9.1 million followers on his @Jordan_The_Stallion8 TikTok account.

Howlett has shared videos in which he claims to have started a “Fast Food Secrets Club”, a college group where he, a few of his friends, discussed fast food facts that were little known.
