NFL Withholds Draft Invite From Potential First-Round Pick To Avoid Awkward TV Moment

Quentin Johnston will not be among the three wide receivers at the NFL Draft, which will take place in two weeks.
TCU’s star player is expected to be selected in the first round, but the league has not invited him to attend the draft later this month in Kansas City.

Johnston is expected to be selected late within the first 31, as Miami Dolphins’ first-round selection was docked. It’s possible that a top-tier talent will be selected later than expected, or worse, in the second round.

This was the case with players such as Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers. Brady Quinn, Lamar Jackson, and Brady Quinn were also involved. These moments made for awkward TV, and the NFL wants to avoid them at all costs.

CBS Sports reports that the NFL believes Johnston’s selection will fall between “20-28”, but in case it doesn’t, they don’t want to be embarrassed. The Baltimore Ravens, the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants are all teams who could benefit from receiving help.

Mel Kiper Jr., ESPN’s latest expert, predicts that Johnston will be selected in the second round by Mel Kiper Jr. Arizona Cardinals are ranked No. 34, but everyone’s opinion is different.

Three receivers from USC, Boston College and Ohio State will be in Kansas City to participate in the draft. The draft is scheduled to begin on April 27.
