The migrant crisis that the United States is currently facing under the Biden Administration has “destroyed”, according to Democrat New York City mayor Eric Adams.
Adams made these comments at a Washington, D.C. panel discussion with the African American Mayors Association.
Adams stated during the discussion that “[the] city is being ruined by the migrant crises.”
Adams appeared to be slamming politicians in his own city for not doing enough to solve the problem.
Adams stated that “none of my people came to Washington, D.C., in order to fight for resources, which will undermine every agency in the city.”
Adams said similar things on Wednesday when he stated that the “national Government has turned its back to New York City”, adding that “everything in this city will be affected by the asylum seekers crisis.”
According to a memo released by the New York City Office of Management and reported by The New York Post, New York City will spend approximately $4.2 billion in costs relating to migrants and asylum-seekers. This amount would be spent between June 30, 2023 and the end of the fiscal year 2024.
The internal memo of the city states that Democratic New York Governor. Kathy Hochul’s plan reimburses the city up to $1 billion for migrant assistance, but only 29% of shelter costs.
New York City officials applied for a FEMA Grant worth $654 Million. A decision is expected on May 31.
