Many people have been wondering why Tucker Carlson left Fox News.
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the statement from the network explained. “Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”
There were no other details provided, which led to speculation that the departure could have been linked to a recent settlement reached with Dominion Voting Systems regarding 2020 election coverage. According to the Los Angeles Times, however, sources familiar with the situation who wasn’t authorized to comment on the matter suggested that Rupert Murdoch was the one who made the decision.
Murdoch was reportedly concerned with the host’s coverage of the Capitol riot on January 6, according to the report. Carlson included footage in his coverage of the riot that was not shown by the committee on January 6. The footage, among other things, shows Capitol Police escorting Jacob Chansley, the “QAnon Shaman”, around the Capitol. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, among others, called for Chansley’s retrial after seeing this footage. She tweeted, “Jacob Chansley is deserving of a retrial.” “All he had done was to walk nonviolently through the Capital while wearing a disguise and being escorted by Capital Police. “I’m tired of the lies and double standards.”
Carlson also showed footage of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, who was seen walking after the riot. This contradicted liberal claims that Sicknick had been killed in the violence. Tucker reported on evidence suggesting that federal agents were the ones to incite the violence. According to court documents the undercover agents who were seen on body camera footage not only observed but also actively encouraged the protesters by chanting “Go! Go! Go!” “Stop the Steal!” and “Whose House? Our House!”
It is curious that Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader (D-NY), called for the censorship of Tucker Carlson last month. He said that Murdoch had a “special obligation” to prevent him from speaking tonight after seeing how he perverted and slimed the truth.
Democrats may have wanted Tucker to leave Fox News but they should remember that he could be an even bigger problem wherever he goes next.
