Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, (R-FL), introduced a motion on Wednesday to expel Adam Schiff (CA), a Democrat from Congress.
Luna’s decision comes just days after FBI Special Counsel John Durham published a report on the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign’s alleged Russian collusion.
Durham concluded that the FBI had no right to investigate the Trump campaign after a year-long investigation. Durham concluded that “the Department and FBI failed to uphold the important mission of strict loyalty to the law” in connection with some events and activities described in his report.
Schiff has long been a proponent of Trump-Russia hoax.
Luna’s resolution on a single page reads: “Resolved that, pursuant Article I, Section 5 Clause 2 of the Constitution of the United States of America, Representative Adam Schiff be, and is hereby, expelled from the House of Representatives,”
Luna made multiple statements as she presented her resolution to the House on Wednesday.
“Schiff lied” to the American public. Luna, using her congressional account, tweeted that “He used his position as House Intel to promote a lie which cost American taxpayers million of dollars.” “He is an insult to the House of Representatives.”
Luna, in a personal statement, called for the House Ethics Committee (HEC) to investigate Schiff’s promotion of the Trump/Russia collusion narrative.
Luna tweeted: “Using your position as House Intel to spread a lie which ripped our country apart, cost taxpayers million of dollars and authorized spying against a US president and then doubling down on this lie days after the Durham report was released makes you unfit to hold office,” Luna wrote. Ethics should investigate.
In early this year, House speaker Kevin McCarthy (R – CA) refused to let Schiff continue his position as a member of the House Intelligence Committee. McCarthy said Schiff “has lied to the American people too many times.”
