Reporters Treated Terribly As Biden’s Press Restrictions Spark Outrage

Published on

On Monday, I wrote about Joe Biden’s relatively quiet day. He was able to speak about his “football” career with the Kansas City Chiefs, who were the Super Bowl champions. He managed to shake hands twice with air before shaking hands with actual people. At one point, he had to ask “What am I doing?” to find out what to do next.

Mette Fredriksen, the Danish prime minister, was the only “work” that he did on this day other than the Presidential Daily Briefing. Each made very brief remarks to the media for a photo opportunity about the alliance between Denmark and the United States. The two also spoke briefly about climate change and Ukraine. Joe, being Joe, needed notes in order to get through this. Fredriksen was watching. She didn’t require notes for her short remarks.

After the photo shoot, reporters tried to ask questions. The White House tried to stop them and then escorted them out. Biden laughed and dodged all the questions. Biden laughed and smirked at the reporter who was persistent in asking him about his opinion on “Danish Leadership in the World”.

Biden has treated the media badly and laughed at them in the past. In May, he did the same thing when he was meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. He also laughed and smirked at reporters when they asked about Title 42. He mocked journalists in October, just before the election. He mimicked their talking and laughed as his staff threw them out of the office.

Nancy Cook, White House correspondent for Bloomberg News, referred to the incident that occurred in October.

Cook tweeted: “The Biden White House seems *particularly* intent* on the media not asking any questions of POTUS just 14 days before the midterm elections, with WH aides screaming at reporters who attempt to ask Biden Q’s after each event today.”

In the last month alone, he has had a number of other incidents. On May 11, he kept reporters behind a rope and hid them from him when they wanted to question him about Title 42. He was snotty and rude to them on May 15, when they finally asked a border question.

As we reported in May, the White House wanted to change the rules for which reporters could attend press briefings when they don’t behave “in a professional manner.” Others like Today News Africa reporter Simon Ameba thought that this was an attempt to eject the people who had asked him difficult questions. We noted that it seems to discriminate also against independent journalists.

Ateba said to Fox News Digital: “I believe it may be used as a way to eliminate unfriendly and difficult reporters. The rule is used to punish people like myself who are trying very hard to ask questions. It’s a simple threat to the First Amendment.”

As we move into 2024, let’s make one last effort to eliminate anyone who could put pressure on Biden. What nerve! He is the one who treats the press as if they are filth, mocks them, and laughs at them. The White House Correspondents Association does not hold him accountable.
