Hunter Biden’s Lawyer Quits, Setting Up Showdown With DOJ

Christopher J. Clark has announced that he is stepping down as Hunter Biden’s lawyer.

That filing came on Tuesday morning, and it points to what’s coming next after the sweetheart plea deal originally agreed to fell apart under questioning but Judge Maryellen Noreika.

Hunter Biden’s lawyers’ next legal strategy is outlined in this key phrase.

The contemporaneous notes of prosecutors and their oral communications in the plea negotiations confirm his understanding of the scope of the immunity accorded by the United States.

The DOJ is claiming that it told Hunter Biden’s team, during the plea negotiations, that he was going to receive broad immunity. Both sides were in agreement with this understanding. The arrangement was part of the diversion agreement that the president’s child had signed for the gun charge. Judge Noreika discovered this later. The deal collapsed after she pressed for precedents for immunity to be included in diversion agreements.

Hunter Biden’s lawyers didn’t start claiming that the diversion deal was still in effect until very recently. They cited the idea that everyone needed had already approved it. The DOJ now disputes that, while stating that promises made were irrelevant to the final plea agreement.

I tend to believe that the DOJ’s argument is stronger. I can’t imagine that anything said during the negotiations would have any legal significance compared to what was filed in court. Hunter Biden and his team seem to want this fight. This could point out embarrassing communications from the DOJ, showing possible collusion in forming the sweetheart agreement the court received.

These tensions are a sign of the end of the cozy relationship between Hunter Biden and the DOJ. Although I would love to believe that, my faith in that is lacking. I would need to see more of the DOJ’s normal aggressiveness before I truly believe that the fix has been removed. Once the charges are brought to Washington, D.C., the proof will be evident.

Hunter Biden’s chances of getting a favorable Judge are much higher in this district. If the DOJ immediately attempts to force another ridiculous plea agreement, it will be clear what is going on. Hunter Biden should be brought to trial at this point. He has made a mockery of the justice system. If he wasn’t the son of the president, he would already be in prison. The investigation has dragged on for too long. David Weiss is no longer a special counsel and has no excuse for not doing everything possible to obtain multiple convictions.
