Gina Carano Exposes Disney’s Use of Bots to Control Narratives On Twitter

Published on

Gina Carano, a former Star Wars actor, has taken the offensive since the South Park episode that attacked Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars was aired. She is using her knowledge of behind-the-scenes to provide what she can.

On Thursday, Carano offered some knowledge on X about Disney’s interest in Twitter, noting that back in 2016, Iger was “inches away” from buying the platform but pulled out over the presence of bots. Carano asked the question about how much the bot population on Twitter has grown since that year:

In 2016 Bob Iger said Disney was basically inches away from buying Twitter but pulled out of the deal at the last minute saying they did a little more research & said this about Twitter users, “We, at that point, estimated with some of Twitter’s help that a substantial portion — not a majority — were not real.”

What percentage of fake Twitter users do you believe grew from 2016 until Elon Musk took over X/Twitter in 2022? How large were the bot armies? Who created the bot armies & for what purpose?

Carano said that buying and controlling Twitter could be a major headache, but creating your own bot army would be cheaper and more efficient:

Why spend money and energy on Twitter when you can control the narrative with bots for much less? It promotes you, without you looking like you’re promoting yourself. “Look at how popular it is on all of these accounts. Strangely, a bunch of accounts with no names are liking it, so it must be good.”

Carano’s point at this stage is that instead of Disney purchasing Twitter, they used the reason Disney declined to buy it in their favor, pointing out that Disney’s agenda on Twitter was often supported by a number of accounts without names and with few followers.

She then changed gears, noting that the bots could be used for more sinister purposes, such as silencing those who disagree with their agendas…such as herself. Carano claimed that she sent a message to Disney’s brass to inform them of these bots who were targeting her following the infamous tweet which was deliberately misinterpreted in order to make her look antisemitic.

Need a reason to dismiss her? This hashtag will make her look anti-Semitic when in fact she hasn’t. She can also be twisted to say that she’s not.

I told them over the phone and in an email about the bot armies. They start the negative narrative, then young kids join in without realizing that they are being manipulated. Then websites & smaller news jump on the bandwagon to make it cool with kids. Before you know it you’re a trend & Hollywood media devours you. I told them that I thought this was what I was experiencing.

Carano pointed out that Disney did not need to control Twitter to manipulate people. They only needed to be in control of the narrative, which they achieved through bots.

Disney didn’t listen to Carano. She was publicly fired and her tweet was called “abhorrent.” The move was quite bizarre, given that Carano’s original tweet was an appeal to treat one another as humans and not as monsters.

Carano’s role as Cara Dune in Disney’s “The Mandalorian” was abruptly terminated by the bot army that created the Twitter mobs.

Carano stated that bot armies are causing more damage than people realize.

This bot army’s action is actually much more serious than most people realize. How many lives have been ruined by Twitter bots? You need evidence that you intended to harm someone in defamation lawsuits. It’s difficult to win a defamation lawsuit, especially if you are up against someone who has unlimited funds. I’d say that sending in bot army to go after people who don’t agree more than qualifies for intent to harm, & I think a jury would also agree.

Carano appeared to urge both current and former Disney employees to provide more evidence about Disney’s relationship in relation to bots on Twitter.

Carano’s testimonies make sense and Twitter users have likely seen the constant surge of anonymous accounts that comprise the majority of Twitter mobs, but more evidence is required to prove Disney used so many bots.

Twitter is now controlled by Elon Musk. The bot armies are in fact receding and it has become harder for entities or individuals to push their agendas. Disney may be included in this.

Carano is likely not done either. She’ll likely continue to expose more Disney dirty secrets as time passes.
