The Senate is in the process of negotiating a $14 billion border security bill that the Democrats hate but will vote for because $60 billion in Ukraine aid will be attached to it.
The timing of the legislators is excellent. While they are in Washington, the number of asylum seekers is overwhelming the border security. A crossing in Eagle Pass, Texas had to be closed, and another in Lukeville Arizona has seen a reduction in vehicle entry.
The White House will not acknowledge the real crisis at the border if you say the word “crisis”. Instead, they’ll point out that you’re near the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol.
Customs and Border Protection released a statement saying that “the U.S. continues to see an increase in the number of migrants encounters along the Southwest Border. This is fueled by smugglers who spread disinformation and prey on individuals to encourage migration.” As we increase our resources and apply sanctions for illegal entry, migration trends also shift.
Smugglers simply change the point of entry every few days for illegals, forcing border patrols to move resources to a new location on the map. In the chaos, they can move drugs or people across the border, while sneering at border patrol.
Next Biden administration official to claim that the border was under control should be placed in stocks.
John Modlin said that the social media accounts for the Tucson sector, where the Lukeville crossing is located, would be temporarily reduced as a response to the “ongoing migration surge.”
Modlin wrote on Twitter/X: “At the moment, it is necessary to use all personnel available to deal with this unprecedented flow.” The social media team will be back as soon as the situation allows.
New York Post:
Modlin revealed that his agents made 15300 arrests in their border sector within a week. They also managed to make three drug busts and capture 117 lbs. The fentanyl was headed to the US.
CBP figures show that 52,000 people attempted to enter the US illegally between entry points in October. This figure was far exceeded by 189,000 who tried to do so.
Erika Pinheiro is the executive director of migrant services at Al Otro. She told The Post that cartels, people smugglers, and other criminals change their tactics to test border patrol coverage and deliberately send migrants in different directions.
Pinheiro called the strategy of smugglers “whack-a-mole.”
Pinheiro stated that people first traveled to Yuma and then El Paso.
She said, “It depends on the countries from which the migrants come and the way the smuggling network operates at the border.”
According to the LA Times, an “unofficial” border post has appeared in the desert around Jacumba Hot Springs. Agents have started tending a tent city that has become the temporary home of hundreds of migrants.
The border fence at Jacumba is broken by the rocky terrain, which allows migrants to pass through.
CBP has now begun to post agents in the area, who distribute supplies and organize transfers to official processing centers.
California is the epicenter of recent migration at the border.
Biden promised order and we got chaos. People will continue to come even if the Senate passes an immigration reform bill that limits asylum and stops “catch-and-release.” They will keep coming if they don’t fear being sent back or turned away.
It is Biden who is to blame for the secrecy surrounding this crisis.
