An NBA G League basketball player and another woman were charged Sunday with carrying out a murder plot against a female victim in Nevada, according to Las Vegas police.

According to online jail records, Chance Comanche was arrested on Friday for a kidnapping in the first degree and booked into Sacramento County Jail, California. His girlfriend, Sakari Harnden was arrested Wednesday on a charge of kidnapping and booked at the Clark County Detention Center, Nevada.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police stated on Sunday that Comanche and Harnden were “responsible for the murder” of the woman.

Two individuals were arrested for the murder and disappearance of a female 23-year-old after executing a murder plan, police announced in a posting on X (formerly Twitter) along with a press release.

Marayna Rodriguez was identified by police as the victim. Police said she vanished after meeting Harnden and buying Comanche together with her on December 5, 2005.

Police said that “early in the investigation detectives suspected foul-play and obtained evidence for arresting Harnden and Comanche, her boyfriend Comanche’s role in Rodgers’ kidnapping” and disappearance.

Based on the information obtained following [Harnden]’s arrest and that of Comanche, detectives recovered human remains from a desert in Henderson, Nevada. Police said that the Clark County Coroner identified the remains as those of Marayna Rodriguez.

Comanche has been detained without bail. The next date for his court appearance is Wednesday.

Harnden was released on bail from a jail in downtown Las Vegas after posting $500,000. In a criminal complaint, it was stated that Harnden had held Rodgers without her consent and against her will to kill her or cause her bodily harm.

Comanche is a 6’10” center from the University of Arizona who was undrafted. He made one appearance in the NBA during the 2022-2023 campaign with the Portland Trail Blazers.
