My political ears are pierced now that we have officially entered a presidential election season with the calendar just turning to 2024 a few days ago. I am curious to know which direction the wind will blow for what appears to be an inevitable rematch between Donald Trump and Joe Biden in November 2024.
If everything stays the same as it is today, Trump and Biden will be on the ballot in a little more than 10 1/2 months.
Imagine my surprise, then, when I was scrolling through this vast entity called the World Wide Web, and found an article with a story showing that an increasing number of Americans – almost one-third now – believe that Joe Biden didn’t win in 2020.
This is the story that I found:
A poll conducted this week found that about a third of U.S. adults believe that President Biden wasn’t legitimately elected as president of the United States for 2020.
The Washington Post/University of Maryland survey (Post-UMD), which examines changing views of the attack on the Capitol in 2021, is being conducted as the third anniversary of this insurrection approaches Saturday. In December 2021, a similar survey was conducted.
In my humble opinion, to say that we are evolving is a huge understatement. This is how the data shakes.
In a poll conducted in 2021, 69 percent of U.S. adult respondents said they believed Biden had been legitimately elected.
Republicans are the ones who have seen the biggest decline in their support for 2020 results. They dropped from 39 to 31 percent between 2023 and 2022.
Biden’s legitimacy was questioned by 91 percent of Democrats. This is a small drop from the 94 percent who said it two years ago. 66 percent also agreed with this statement among independents, down from 72% in December 2021.
The Post reported that only 3 out of 10 people who get their news primarily from Fox News believe the election of President Obama was valid.
No one will put me in the Donald Trump camp at all costs because I am going to hurt my head when I try and wrap my mind around this concept that Donald Trump, out of the 330,000,000 Americans, is the only Republican who would be able to do anything effective. This type of talk is so offensive that it makes me want to put an iron stake in my eye. And listening to The View ladies spew their stupidity drives me crazy.
Donald Trump has had high unfavorability ratings since 2015. However, he has effectively countered this with his loyal followers and has maximized it.
My thinking has been for some time that Trump will not be as a sure thing in the general election as he was during the primaries. This new poll, which shows that people are beginning to doubt the legitimacy of Joe Biden’s 2020 election, could open some doors for Trump’s November 2024 campaign.
It could be that the poll indicates Biden is now being viewed with suspicion.
On Sunday, CNN interviewed Dem Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland to discuss the Democrats’ efforts to remove former President Donald Trump using the 14th Amendment.
Raskin has made a few comments about which many people are talking.
First, he talked about the process of disqualification. He claimed that the disqualification process they used against Trump was “most democratic”. It takes a lot of spit to try this level of spin.
Rep. Jamie Raskin: “Of all the forms of disqualification we have, the one that disqualifies people for engaging in insurrection is the most democratic because it’s the one where people choose themselves to be disqualified.” pic.twitter.com/5SxPp3UvL8

What a horse hockey game!
Is it undemocratic to say that Jennifer Granholm and Arnold Schwarzenegger can’t be president because they were not born in this country? He said something ridiculous. “Of all of the disqualifications we have, that which disqualifies someone for insurrection has the most democratic aspect because they choose to be disqualified themselves.” He claims then that Trump disqualified him.
Some Independents or Republicans, who were anti-Trump before, may now see the former president differently.
Politicians are prone to overplaying their hand, especially when told that they’re smart and beautiful all the time by their friends. It could be that the politicians who think everyone hates Trump just as much as they are turning people off, even if they are not pro-Trump.
Time will tell if Trump’s base has grown stronger as these pointless lawsuits and efforts to keep him from the ballot show. This effect may be causing people to believe that Trump’s claim about the 2020 elections being rigged might have some legs.
We will soon find out if this trend continues.
