Mike Pence Unveils Bold Strategy to Stop the Surge of ‘Populism’ in the GOP

Published on

Former Vice President Mike Pence has been working on a strategy to reverse the “populism’s” rise among Republicans.

Pence, known for his strong social and moral conservatism, is spearheading a $20 million initiative named the “American Solutions Project.” This project is part of his political advocacy organization, Advancing American Freedom.

In a statement made to RealClearPolitics, Pence warned against “movements” and “personalities” that could influence the conservative agenda.

The conservative values that founded America have stood the test of time. America’s Constitution and great experiment can never be influenced or shaped by individuals or movements. They must stay true to the timeless values that have made America free and prosperous.

The Hill, which obtained a copy of the plan, reported that Pence’s plan includes a “three-pronged approach” and aims to “reverse right-wing populism”.

The Hill report:

The first will be to shape political majorities by creating a policy platform for candidates to embrace “and reverse the Right’s drift toward populism and the Left’s embrace of socialism.”

The second article is devoted to promoting conservative policies and Pence’s legislative priorities. They include promoting free trade, limiting government spending, restoring U.S. leadership in the world, and facing China.

In the final part of this project, we aim to protect conservative values such as limited government.

The $20,000,000 investment by Advancing America Freedom will allow the organization to expand its staff, develop its infrastructure, and promote its work. RealClearPolitics first reported that Ed Feulner and Art Pope, a major conservative donor, as well as Catholic University Board of Trustees Chair Victor Smith, would join the group.

The plan is interpreted by many as an attempt to weaken Donald Trump’s grip on the Republican Party, and the conservative movement more generally. It will also seek to shift the agenda to favor the social conservatism that figures such as Pence represent.

After the events on 6th January 2021, the relationship between Trump and Pence was irreparably damaged when Pence refused to accept his superiors’ requests for challenging certification of the contested presidential election results of 2020.

Pence failed in his bid to become the next president of the United States. Pence also distanced himself from the former president by accusing him “of endangering his family” at the events on January 6, 2018.

Pence said at an event that “President Trump was wrong” in 2017. “I had no right to overturn the election.” “His reckless words threatened not only my family but also everyone else in the Capitol that day. Donald Trump is responsible for the history of our country.

Meanwhile, with Trump’s grip on the nomination all but secured, the search for his running mate is well underway. Mike Pence will not be included in the discussion.
