NBC Sounds Alarm on “Russia Hoax 2.0,” Alleges 2024 Election Under Threat

NBC News has already laid the foundation for another loss in an election that they can blame on Russia.

The network published an article on Monday citing former U.S. officials as well as cyber security experts who claim that Moscow has already begun to try and tilt the election of 2024 in Donald Trump’s favor.

The report explains:

Experts said that the Russian propaganda against Biden is part and parcel of an ongoing effort to undermine American military assistance to Ukraine and U.S. solidarity and support with NATO.

In Europe, a similar effort is underway. France, Germany, and Poland have said that Russia launched a propaganda barrage to try to influence the European Parliament elections in June.

The article goes on to say that Russia would use deepfake technology and AI to stage a cyberattack against a Biden campaign element or create false narratives.

U.S. officials are concerned about the possibility that Russia will try to influence the election by using artificial intelligence-based “deepfake audio” or “deepfake video,” or a “hacking and leak”, such as when Russian military intelligence agents stole emails from the Democratic Party in 2016, causing political damage.

It’s now commonplace for pro-Russian online propaganda campaigns to be run on all major social media platforms, although individual accounts are not as popular as they used to be.

These experts also raise the alarm over Twitter (or X now) which is owned by Elon Musk and allows information to be spread without censorship.

Moscow and its agents have been trying to exploit the divisions within American society for a long time. Experts and former U.S. government officials say that Trump’s false claim that the 2020 elections were stolen, the country’s increasing political polarization, and the sharp reductions in disinformation, election integrity teams, and other platforms at X, provide fertile grounds for spreading confusion, division, and chaos.

The article claims that although Trump is not accused of working with Russia, the “potential rewards” for Russian President Vladimir Putin will be high and that Trump’s recent remarks about the conflict in Ukraine have solidified his support in Moscow to run for reelection later this year.

Although there’s no guarantee Trump will win another term as president in November, these articles are probably part of a campaign to justify a possible Biden loss. Hillary Clinton supporters cited alleged Russian involvement as the main reason for Trump’s election victory following the 2016 presidential elections.

Robert Mueller, the Special Counsel who investigated Trump’s alleged collusion between him and the Kremlin for over two years before publishing his report found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Putin said recently that he prefers Biden’s victory in November because he is more of a traditional politician. In an interview with Russian television Rossiya 1 TV, Putin stated that “[Biden] has more experience and is predictable.” “He’s a politician from the old school.” We will work with any American leader who is respected by the American public.
