Tucker Carlson Lands Exclusive Interview with Russian Strongman Vladimir Putin

Tucker Carlson revealed his upcoming interview on Tuesday with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The interview has been rumored for several days.

Carlson has now announced that not only is the interview happening, but also why.

Carlson, in his statement, repeatedly stressed that Americans have the right to know what their government has been involved in, as well as why. Given Mr. Carlson’s reputation, we can expect him to hold the Russian dictator’s feet close to a burning journalistic fire.

After its illegal takeover of Crimea in 2014, Russia has annexed another four regions of Ukraine.

The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest order for Vladimir Putin accusing him of war crimes and the illegal deportation from Ukraine of children to Russia.

In Russia, the media is prohibited from calling this a war. It should be called a special military operation.

Tucker Carlson, a staunch defender of President Putin, has been outspoken since the beginning of the war. He claimed, just before Russia invaded, that “hating Putin is the main purpose of America’s Foreign Policy”. But he urged his audience to ask why.

“Has Putin ever called you a racist?” “Has he ever threatened to fire me for disagreeing with his views?” Carlson spoke as Russian troops began to mass along the border of Ukraine. “These are all fair questions and the answer is no, Vladimir Putin did not do that.”

Tucker has never shied away from controversy. We can only hope that he will not do so this time.

Carlson will be called a Putin sycophant by critics, mainly on the left. He will also be accused of being a Russian spy if he continues to make political comments, which is his mainstay. Surprisingly, Vladimir Putin has agreed to the interview. And it would be very disappointing to learn that Carlson agreed to any limitations on topics or questions. We hope to see something new, namely a Western journalist grilling the Russian leader with an eye towards the main chances. We should see Putin asking some difficult questions about not just Ukraine, but also other topics, like the imprisonment of Evan Gershkovich and another American reporter by Russia.

Will Tucker Carlson push Putin on these and other issues? He should. It’s not worth doing an interview otherwise. Carlson has one thing right: this is journalism. The American people deserve to hear Putin’s answer on these issues. Any journalist would jump at the chance to interview this former KGB apparatchik who runs the largest gas station in the world.
