CNN has been treading water desperately for years. Fox News has consistently topped all networks in ratings night after night, while the former cable news king has suffered for years. CNN claims to be the “most trustworthy name in news,” but even Chris Licht, former CEO of CNN, admitted last year that this trust is gone. He didn’t last long.

CNN’s problem is that it claims to be unbiased and fair, but its on-air talent has always been biased against conservative views, as they base their reports on Democratic Party talking points. Even the token conservatives who appear on CNN are nothing more than liberal pundits.

The struggling network desperately tries to break out of its downward spiral. Step one is to reduce costs by cutting the salaries of all big-name talent who are still earning huge salaries.

Sources say that Mark Thompson, the new CEO, is planning to make drastic cuts to restructure the network, as the ratings are plummeting. Anderson Cooper, Chris Wallace, and Wolf Blitzer, along with Jake Tapper, will be facing the axeman.

“Anderson is aware that he will be cut because he earns a staggering $20 million per year.” A network insider tells In Touch exclusively that he’s already begun looking for a job. “Chris Wallace took $8 million, and figured he was a target too!”

Insiders claim that other network favorites, including a $15 million Blitzer and an $8 million Tapper are also in line for the axe!

The insider continued, “Everyone knows that the main focus is to cut costs.” “Nobody is safe!”

No major changes are expected for now because the contracts of the “heavy-hitters” won’t expire before the November elections. What happens after that?

Tapper’s rep insists that rumors of his dismissal are false. Thompson is well-known for his ability to use a razor-sharp axe to achieve the desired results. To save money, he recently fired Poppy Harlow from CNN This Morning as well as Phil Mattingly.

According to sources, he is not interested in the star system or the high salaries it brings. He is reportedly looking to replace the marquee names in his show with talents who have built their audience on social media, such as former FOX and NBC Anchor Megyn Kells who has 1.72 million YouTube subscribers.

At the end of 2023, the network’s ratings were at their lowest level since 2014. It also reached a record low in the 25-to 54-year-old age group that advertisers prize.

A source stated that CNN is trying to stay up with the changing news landscape by becoming a digital-first service provider. It makes sense that they would want to hire anchors with a strong presence in the digital world, especially if television becomes a thing of the past.

CNN+’s attempt to launch a digital platform in April 2022 failed miserably. It was only three weeks later that the service went out of business. CNN+ had a lofty goal to secure 2 million subscribers in its first year. However, it only managed 150,000 subscribers, and reportedly less than 10,000 viewers per day, during its hyped-up launch.

I believe CNN may be heading the way of Hindenburg.
