Colorado GOP Launches Recall Effort Against Secretary of State Griswold

Jena Griswold, Colorado Secretary for State, has been on multiple media outlets to express her anger over the Supreme Court’s recent decision that ruled against the Colorado Secretary of State in removing Donald Trump’s name from the Mile High State primary ballot. She called herself a “crazy ex-girlfriend” and screamed at the top of her lungs. However, Lauren Boebert, R-CO, entered the stage on Monday to demand a recall for Colorado’s official.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), led state party officials to write a letter to Secretary of State Jena Griswold on Monday accusing her of trying to “disenfranchise” millions of Coloradans and calling the attempt to ban Trump from the voting booth “a stain and embarrassment to our Republic.”

The letter stated: “With today’s unanimous Supreme Court decision to keep Donald J. Trump in the Colorado primary ballot, Coloradans can have no faith in your ability to protect their right to vote and oversee elections for the state of Colorado.”

The GOP officials claim that Griswold “made a selfish political choice to rig” the primary election against Trump, and they declare that “all options are on the table” for payback. “Including a formal recall attempt.”

It’s worth the effort, even if it is unlikely that it will have any impact given Colorado’s current political climate. Jena Griswold is unable to fulfill her responsibility as Secretary of State, which is to manage the elections of a state impartially and dispassionately.

Her reaction to the Supreme Court decision is proof enough. It is worth deconstructing her comments from an MSNBC interview on Monday.

Griswold expressed disappointment on Monday when the Supreme Court unanimously overturned her decision barring Trump from the voting booth.

Griswold stated on MSNBC that “my larger reaction is dismay.” “I believe that under our Constitution, states should have the right to ban insurrectionists who break their oath.”

She added, “This decision opens the door to Congress acting to pass authorizing laws, but we are aware that Congress is a non-functioning institution.” “It will ultimately be up to American voters in November to save our democracy.”

Even the liberal troika of the Court saw that this was an irrational, and doomed from the beginning, effort to remove Trump from a ballot as an “insurrectionist”. The second part of this sentence reveals Jena Griswold’s ignorance or outright defiance of the Constitution, the rule of law, and the presumption of innocence. She describes former President Trump, as an “oath-breaking insurrectionist,” even though he has not broken his presidential oath, nor been indicted or convicted for insurrection, under 18 U.S. Code SS2383.

A Secretary of State should be familiar with the presumption of innocence and understand that a presidential candidate cannot be excluded from a vote if they have not been convicted under 18 U.S. Code SS2383, Rebellion or Insurrection.

Jena Griswold’s partisanship has been exposed in this case. She chose to ignore the Constitution and adhere to the law. Even though a recall attempt is unlikely to be successful, it is clear that Jena Griswold has shown herself to be unfit for her office. The Colorado state government is doing the Colorado voters a grave injustice by allowing her to remain in the position.
