Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress, said on Thursday that she did not trust her disgraced ex-attorney Michael Avenatti who is currently in prison. She claimed on “The View” that she had “no choice” but to hire him.
Daniels was asked who Avenatti initially represented in her lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, which made her a household brand in 2018.
“So, for a time, he seemed like a liberal darling. Someone who championed your cause and supported you. But when did you notice that there was something wrong with this guy?” co-host Sara Haines asked.
Daniels asserted that she had been wary of Avenatti “from the beginning” and emphasized that she was “never alone with him.” She urged viewers to observe her reactions in the new documentary “Stormy” during their interactions, stating that she saw through his deceit. Avenatti was later convicted of fraud and identity theft for embezzling $300,000 from Daniels.
Joy Behar, the co-host of the show, asked Daniels: “Why did he come into your life in the first place?”
Daniels replied, “Because there was no choice.” No one touched my case because they either didn’t wish to be associated with the adult film industry or didn’t wish to take on Trump.
Daniels said that in some cases she could not afford to pay.
Michael listened, he believed me. He had his motives, but he believed me. She continued, “He only took $100.”
Daniels called Avenatti a “brilliant” man but regretted that he had “chosen to use his power for evil”, before making an insulting remark regarding his imprisonment.
She said, “That’s so sad.” Because he has more authority than I ever could because he’s a White man. And he didn’t show [his private parts] on camera. He’s likely showing it elsewhere now.
After taking Daniels on as a client, the disgraced attorney became well-known in liberal media. He made hundreds of TV appearances, including on CNN, MSNBC, and other networks. Daniels and Avenatti once posed together for a Vogue shoot.
Amy Chozick, a reporter for Vogue, wrote: “Daniels relies on Avenatti. But she treats him as if he were a well-meaning, lovable stepbrother who forgot to take Ritalin.”
Ana Navarro, co-host of “The View”, compared Avenatti with the “Holy Spirit” in an episode from 2018. Avenatti served at one time as “guest cohost” on the ABC gabfest and flirted with running for Democratic president.
She said, “You’re like the Holy Spirit to me.” “You are everywhere at all times.” Right? “I see you on cable news”
Avenatti received a 14-year prison sentence in 2022 after he cheated four former clients of millions of dollars, and tried to prevent the IRS from collecting taxes on payroll at a coffeeshop that he owned.
He had already served a five-year sentence for stealing $300,000.00 from Daniels and trying to extort the footwear manufacturer Nike of $25,000,000.
Media Research Center reports that Avenatti has appeared on all major cable news channels over 250 times from February 2018 to 2019.
