Courthouse Chaos: Willis’ Prosecutor Clashes with Judge in Young Thug’s Trial

Published on

Adriane Love, an Assistant District Attorney representing Fulton County’s District Attorney Fani Willis, had a heated discussion with Judge Ural Glinville on Wednesday afternoon during a trial concerning rapper “Young Thug.”

Love tried to introduce evidence into the trial, but the judge ruled in her favor. Love told Glanville the district attorney had tried to talk to the defense about the evidence, but Glanville instructed her to submit a motion.

Glanville told Love that she was right to be frustrated with the decision.

You should all have prepared yourselves beforehand.

Glanville turned back to Love, and said,

Please take a seat. Please take a seat. Next time, you should be prepared.

Glanville interrupted Love before she could refute the judge’s assertion that the prosecution had been ill-prepared.

I just won’t. We’re starting now.

Love continued to argue with the judge, claiming that the evidence “was not inadmissible.”

Glanville replied,

Madame, this is going to be inadmissible now. I will not discuss it further.

Love shouted that the prosecution is being “punished” and the judge interrupted again, saying:

I don’t punish anyone. Prior preparation can prevent poor performance.

Love shouted back at you

Judge, we are prepared! It’s because I sent what I sent last week. It was a week and a quarter ago! Your honor, two weeks!

Glanville informed her that the jury would be arriving and asked her to sit down.

Love is the main prosecutor in Fanni’s RICO case against “Young Thug”, a rapper (Jeffrey Williams), and 27 other defendants. Fanni Willis issued a sweeping 88-page indictment accusing Williams as the kingpin of Young Slime Life, an Atlanta street gang that is linked to the Bloods.

Williams was referred to by a prosecutor in a hearing held on June 20, 2022.

He’s the one that everyone is afraid of. He is the King Slime.

The long trial in Georgia has sparked a national debate about whether rap songs should be allowed as evidence in criminal proceedings. Love has been in charge of the long trial, which was marked by tensions in courtrooms and unexpected twists. For example, a witness said he would rather go back to prison than testify.

D’Angelo White is a state witness who has served seven years of a 10-year term. He is the alleged victim in 2015 of an attempted murder committed by a YSL gang co-founder. White refused to see the map that prosecutors displayed on a screen and instead told them:

You can’t force me to look at the screen. I want to return to prison. Give me my 10-year bid, and go on. You bothered me when I was in prison. You’re talking about something I didn’t hear 10 years ago.

In November, after a lengthy pre-trial and a jury selection that took even longer, the criminal trial finally began. The list of co-defendants dwindled as a result of plea bargains and other circumstances.

The judge presiding over the trial was prompted to speed things up because the proceedings were taking too long. The judge told jurors last week that if the court didn’t meet on weekends, they would be “here until 2027” and that was not what he wanted for the jury.

The Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has been plagued with controversy. Several scandals have erupted amid her RICO case against former president Donald Trump. This includes a romantic relationship between Nathan Wade, who was hired by Willis to handle the case. His resignation was forced as a result.
