Gov. Ron DeSantis to Kickstart Fundraising Efforts for Donald Trump

Three sources have told NBC News that Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will fundraise to support former President Donald Trump in his White House run, having previously challenged him in the GOP primaries.

DeSantis told donors at a retreat in Hollywood, Florida on Saturday that he would help raise money for Trump’s campaign. He was standing in front of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Florida’s first lady Casey DeSantis also attended the retreat. It was for major donors, fundraisers, and finance committee members from DeSantis’ campaign.

CNN reported that Texas businessman Roy Bailey attended the retreat and was a member of DeSantis’ national finance advisory council.

He is committed to supporting Trump in every possible way. We’re going to follow him, and we are excited to do all we can to elect Trump. We want to unlock and motivate donors to support Trump, and to put more fuel into his tank.

Bailey, who helped raise money for Trump 2020’s campaign previously, added.

DeSantis’ supporters in Texas and across the nation will be eager to support President Trump. That’s exactly what I will try to achieve.

DeSantis endorsed the former president after suspending his campaign in January, but it is unclear if Trump’s campaign will accept DeSantis with open arms.

The Governor conceded in his speech.

Although I disagree with Donald Trump on some issues, like the coronavirus and his elevation to Anthony Fauci, Trump still has a superiority over the incumbent, Joe Biden. It is obvious.

I pledged to support the Republican candidate and I will keep that promise. I endorse him because we cannot go back to Nikki Haley’s old Republican guard, a repackaged version of warm-over corporatism.

He then remanded the former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, for failing to uphold the RNC promise she signed when she refused to endorse Trump as presumptive GOP candidate.

DeSantis said,

“So for me, when I tell someone I will do something, then I do it.”

DeSantis responded to a question about joining Trump’s campaign in March by saying that Florida is no longer “competitive”.

It’s a fact that this isn’t going to be an election-friendly state in November. There won’t be much of a campaign for the top spot on the ballot. I’m not sure how I can be of help to the nation.

The DeSantis donors’ and bundlers’ retreat took place in South Florida at the same time as the $50 million record-breaking fundraiser for the Trump 47 Committee was held in Palm Beach. The Trump fundraising event nearly doubled the $26 million raised by a Biden campaign fund-raiser held in New York on March 28, which featured former presidents Barack Obama, and Bill Clinton.
