How Long Was A Georgia Man Sentenced to Prison for Adding Antifreeze to Daughter’s Breast Milk?

A Fulton County jury sentenced a Georgia father to 50 years of prison for poisoning his daughter’s breast milk with antifreeze.

South Fulton Police Department announced Thursday night that Curtis Jack was found guilty of all charges, including felony criminal attempted murder and felony child cruelty in the first degree.

The sentence was 50 years imprisonment with 40 years of custody.

Jack was arrested in October 2020 after his 18-day-old daughter tested positive for the chemical ethylene glycol. This is often found as an antifreeze ingredient.

South Fulton Police said that the baby was born to Jack and the woman he works with on September 24, 2020. He reportedly demanded she terminate the pregnancy. Police said that the two were in an “intimate” relationship since January of this year.

Jack confessed to South Fulton Detectives that he had added antifreeze into bottles of breastmilk he purchased from the mother of his daughter on October 1, 2020. She was still in hospital after giving birth.

The bottles were then given to the grandmother of the child, who also cared for her other child.

Police said that the baby girl was critically ill within 24 hours and suspected to be poisoned.

In Jack’s case, both the mother and grandmother of the baby, as well as law enforcement officers, and medical experts, testified on behalf of the state. The court was also shown a demonstration of how easily breast milk could be contaminated.

Jack was arrested early on Friday morning and booked into Fulton County Jail.
