Scotland Police Back Rowling: No Punishment for Challenging Trans Agenda

J.K. Rowling, author of Harry Potter, is not only busy slapping trans activists on social networks; she also aims at authoritarian legislation that’s meant to silence speech.

The Scottish Government has passed the Hate Crime and Public Order Act 2021. The law was passed to combat a “rising tide” of hatred within society.

Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland 2021 Act) makes it illegal to make insulting remarks based on disability or religion. The act criminalizes remarks based on gender, sexual orientation, intersex, or transgender identity.

In 1986, the Public Order Act made it illegal to incite hate based on race or color, nationality or ethnicity. The law now includes this.

Since the law came into force on Monday, Police Scotland has received more than 3,000 complaints.

Rowling has been a vocal critic of both the transgender laws and the movement in general. In October, she declared that she would be “happy” to spend time behind bars for her views regarding gender ideologies. This was because the UK Labour Party had considered a similar law.

Rowling raged against Scotland’s law X (formerly Twitter) in this episode. She posted a lengthy thread on Monday, highlighting several biological men who claimed to be transgender, before being sentenced for horrific crimes. The individuals she highlighted included rapists and child abusers.

Rowling mocked the new law, saying: “Clearly all of these people mentioned in tweets are men.”

It would appear that Rowling has violated the law. Police in the country have announced they will not pursue Rowling because her posts on social media are not criminal.

This announcement, she replied, would “reassure every woman who wishes to speak up for the reality and importance of biological sex” in Scotland. She added, “I am confident that all women will be treated equally under the law, no matter their financial status or profile.”

This may be a good thing. Rowling will not be prosecuted, but other people without the same name recognition and financial resources as Rowling might be. Scots could face the wrath of the pro-trans crowd.

It is also important to remember that laws passed in other countries could easily be imposed by Americans who do not exercise caution. First Amendment rights should protect us from being penalized if we misuse the language. If leftists and authoritarians get their way, this won’t last forever.
