Being a pessimist has the advantage that you will never be disappointed. You’ll only be pleasantly surprised every now and then. I reserve my right as a pessimist to be skeptical about Donald Trump’s reelection. I don’t want to underestimate Democrats’ avarice, ambition, and raw, naked greed.
I am certain they will do all in their power to achieve their desired result at the polls. I’m also sure that if Trump wins, whether it be popularly or electorally, the courts will need to clear their dockets to accommodate the avalanche of lawsuits. Most Democrats would prefer to use a belt sander on themselves rather than accept Trump’s victory.
Things are starting to look up. With Biden’s campaign going as smoothly as a 1970 Pontiac Catalina with a blown head gasket, Trump making mountains of money in unexpected places, and challenges to autocracy arising in France and Canada, as well as Nancy Pelosi’s Candid Camera moment.
Dems also sense the changing winds. While ensuring they have enough aces up their sleeves and that their Pocket Votersâ„¢ work properly before November, Democrat lawmakers are dealing with growing unease. So much so, that a group of Democratic House Members is assembling a task force to deal with the potential results of a Trump presidency. It’s a kind of Donkey Rapid Response Team.
Politico reported that the DRRT currently includes Maryland’s Jamie Raskin, Washington’s Pramila Jayapal, Wisconsin’s Mark Pocan, Colorado’s Diana DeGette, and California’s Ted Lieu and Nanette Barragan. I’m sure more players will be announced later. Huffman told Politico the Democrats would be in for a tough time if Trump won.
“These things will be hitting us with lightning speed. We could lose our democratic system if we react too slowly. We’ll need to be prepared to face it in real-time. These plans must begin immediately.”
“We could lose our democratic system.” Everyone will be covered in ashes and sackcloth. The Democrats are not afraid to trample over the republic or their “democracy,” or act at lightspeed if the situation calls for it.
Huffman continues to believe that Biden can win. As a Democrat insider, he probably knows things that the rest of us don’t. Huffman, however, believes that it would be “political malfeasance” to not prepare for the outcome he and his colleagues perceive as the worst. “If Trump wins, they are telling us what they will do more clearly than we have ever seen.” It’s important to take this seriously and understand the situation.
It’s not just Trump who is causing Democrats to get ants in their pants. Project 2025 is another reason why progressive House members have Appletinis and water crackers in their bunkers. Project 2025, a creation of the Heritage Foundation, is devoted to ensuring the success of the next Republican administration.
From their website:
“The 2025 Presidential Transition Project is a four-pillared project that lays the foundation for an effective conservative administration. It includes a policy agenda and a Presidential Personnel Database. Also included are curricular materials for the Presidential Administration Academy as well as outlines for the first 180 days of the new administration.”
They are saying, “Ms. Jayapal, take us to DEFCON 1.”
