Biden said that he followed the advice of his commander-in-chief when he imposed limits on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s and his country’s use of American arms against Russia.
Biden was interviewed by reporters on Thursday at the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., about his meeting that day with Zelenskyy.
The report asked specifically about the Ukrainian President pressing Biden to lift the restrictions on Ukraine’s usage of American weapons. He said that his country could not win the war against Russia without lifting the restrictions. The reporter asked Biden whether he planned to change his mind.
Biden responded by saying, “I am following the advice of my Commander-in-Chief.”
Then, he seemed to realize his mistake and said, “My, the Chief of Staff of the Military, as well as the Secretary of Defense and our Intelligence People.”
Biden said that he and his team are deciding daily what Ukraine should be doing and how far it should go in Russia.
