Karen Foerster was ill and overcome by heat as the Trump Rally began. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital which is only 11 miles away.
The news that Donald Trump was shot in the face broke while the Foresters were in the Emergency Department. The news was shocking to everyone in the room, including those who had attended the rally with their friends or were themselves there.
The nurse and Ms. Foerster looked at each other in shock. The Epoch Times reported that a woman they encountered in the waiting area fell against a wall and started crying immediately. They worried about their friends who were still at the rally. Were they in harm’s way? What did they see?”
The Epoch Times reported that Ms. Foerster said, “What an awful, horrible thing I witnessed.”
The shooter killed Corey Comperatore, 50, instantly at the rally. Two rallygoers who were critically injured were airlifted by helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh’s North Side. Trump, who wasn’t seriously injured, was transported to Butler Memorial by motorcade.
The hospital was put on lockdown as the motorcade approached. Rick grabbed his phone to video the scene when Secret Service agents scanned the building.
The mood in the waiting room appears to be filled with anxiety and fear. Rick is heard saying, “Oh yeah, we were in the front row and my friend saw his blood gushing out of his skull.”
A woman shouts, “Oh my God.” “Oh, Jesus.”
Then, President Trump emerges out of a car. The people exclaim “There he was” and “Oh thank god, he was walking.”
“He’s walking! He’s walking!” Rick says excitedly. The mood changes instantly from extreme distress to jubilation. One patient is even seen standing out of his wheelchair to greet the former president.
The video shows Trump only in a few frames, but the joy and relief of the witnesses is contagious.

Karen Allen, the president of Butler Memorial Hospital was at a baby shower when she learned that there had just been a shooting near the Trump rally and that former President Obama had been among the victims. Dr. Dave Rottinghaus was attending a graduation celebration when he learned of the shooting at the nearby Trump rally. Both went to work right away, according to Trib Live.
She said that when she arrived, she saw police officers from Butler County, Butler City, Pittsburgh, FBI, Secret Service, Homeland Security, and the Secret Service “all around” the building, as well as 15-20 black SUVs. She said that all the entrances to the hospital had been electronically locked.
She said, “No one was allowed to enter the emergency department – no matter your position.”
Rottinghaus claims that Trump was treated immediately. …
He said, “Clearly, the former President is a high priority.” In this case, we had to allocate resources and notify our emergency department of his arrival.
Trump has been treated and released. Allen said that Trump was “very personable and appreciative” as he traveled to Bedminster, N.J.
